Coriolanus

Last night I went and saw Shakespeare's Coriolanus (which I had never heard of before I saw Danny Boyle's Frankenstein) through National Theater Live.  It starred Tom Hiddleston and Mark Gatis (Mycroft from Sherlock!!).  In word the show was BRILLIANT!

Without spoiling the ending, Coriolanus (played by my new heart throb, Hiddleston) is about an arrogant soldier who wins an epic battle, comes home and tries his hand in politics. It doesn't work out for him and the play escalates from there rather negatively.

I think anyone who can memorize  Shakespeare lines is a genius but to deliver them in such a way these actors did, with such passion, was extraordinary to watch!

What I also like that the National Theater did was do a behind the scenes look at the production (which I always love) and a Q&A with the director.  I always enjoy what goes into a show and who puts time and effort into them.  Fascinating!

Even if you don't care for Shakespeare, go see it if you have a chance even if it's just to lay eyes on Tommy (I'm more than sure a girl kissed her hand and places it on the poster with his face on it before entering the room!).

It's stellar. Go watch!
