One year anniversary!!

One year ago today, I got to see my favorite band who were so nice to come to America after ten years to do a tour...best show basically ever!!

Hyde Park

For those who are unaware, I am a huge History nerd. I majored in it in college and plan to continue pursuing my studies until I have obtained my doctorate. In what yet, I have not decided but I can certainly narrow it down to the early 20th century, possibly even study my two favorite people: Franklin and Eleanor Roosevelt.

There are not two more inspiring individuals in my book. The tribulations that both of them experienced together and desperately are astounding.  For example, FDR's polio (in which I wrote my senior thesis) or Eleanor's loss of both parents before the age of ten.

Today, I made my one of many yearly trips to Hyde Park and the emotion and closeness I feel to both of their homes leaves me befuddled.  I can't fully understand why I feel so drawn to them but if I had to try, I would say that I am drawn to the passion they had to help people. 

While people annoy me occasionally, I still feel the incredible need to help people who need it and I believe that everyone deserves equal rights.  Eleanor and I share these same beliefs and as far as I'm concerned the most pivotal precursor to the civil rights movement.

That is just a little example of all of her tremendous work.  I find her so inspiring that I am moved to tears. I am not even ashamed to say that, she was a truly amazing woman.

Thrift shop Challenge

I am slightly obsessed with Macklemore and Ryan Lewis especially their "Thrift Shop" song.  I heard on VH1 that lots of people go to second hand shops and buy what they can with $20 like the song goes.  Some places let you shop all day for just that much.

So today, I got a twenty out of the ATM and crashed the Salvation Army.  They had a huge store with tons of clothes and what not which I couldn't get interested in because I'm not a mother from 1985.  Serious stuff.

So I am able to see what countries I get page views from and can I tell you all how excited I am to know that people from France, Great Britain, Russia and Germany have all seen my page?!  You guys are rad and hope you like what you see :)

I wish...

I wish I could get paid for things that I'm exceptionally good at.  I mean I cook now for a living and I'm pretty good at that but there are a few other things that I would like to be paid for as well, such as...

• Dancing- I know I could be paid for this but I don't have any training and I'm not about to be a stripper (no offense, strippers...get it!).  Do clubs hirer ravers? I'd be super good at that, you know just jumping around.

• Groupie- When I love a band, I mean I really LOVE a band.  If I could be paid to hangout with them, that'd be pretty stellar. *cough*RAMMSTEIN*cough*

• Life Coach- Apparently I give out super good advice, am generally the happiest person ever and have quite some style.  I need to capitalize on this and start charging people for all my expertise.

• Being Martha Stewart's Prodigy-  My coworkers do not call me Martha for nothing.  I am basically the non-fellon version of her and I'm slightly nicer and not so dull.   I've got mad skills when it comes to cooking, baking and crafting.

• Drinking Coffee- I don't need to explain this...

• Walking- I could walk and walk and walk for hours to nowhere.

• Being sarcastic- nowadays, I just can't help myself...while sarcasm is anger's ugly cousin, I am so fluent in it that I don't know if I'm being serious or not

• Being Calm- This is a true challenge and I believe for every person I don't slap for being stupid, I should receive an extra check from the government.

• Being Awesome- I'd kill it 

• Pining things on Pinterest- I am the pining queen of the universe.  Just going to the page instantly improves my life. Hence why I encourage everyone to join!!!

• Singing loudly in my car- everywhere I travel to is basically a concert and yes, I sound just like whoever I am listening to at the moment.  I nail it every time.

The Great Gatsby

My favorite book of all time is coming out (again) in theaters and I literally can not wait!  Based just on the publicity stills, it will for sure be visually stunning, hopefully the acting will be up to par as well.  If you have not read this, I suggest you should.  It's pretty short but nonetheless a classic!!  Read it, then go watch the movie...DO IT!!

Mad Men Tonight!!

It's smart. It's accurate and it's my favorite show of all time!! Mad Men airs tonight on AMC at 9 pm for its 6th season! If you haven't watched it, I suggest you do yourself a favor and start your love affair with Don Draper NOW and if you have, enjoy your old fashions and martinis! Cheers!!!

TWO MORE MONTHS!!

In exactly sixty days, Allison and I will be taking off to Germany and Austria!! Its coming so fast and before I know it we will be on the most epic trip of our lives!!
