Southside Music Festival

Since we left the castles, we traveled back to Nürnberg to see the Nazi Rally Grounds that we didn't catch last time then hopped a train to Stuttgart so we could pick up our rental car to head to Southside for the weekend.

What an amazing weekend! For starters, they actually gave us a Mercedes-Benz although it wasn't the convertible we were still quite happy with it as well as paranoid.  Driving through the German country side was fantastic.  So pretty and we passed lots of castles!

Our hostel was about 30 mins from the festival which was easy-peasy!

The first day we saw Jimmy Eat world, Two door cinema club, and Queens of the Stone Age. Killer!

Leaving was quite the adventure. We had to travel through all the campgrounds back to a pitch black parking lot. Needless to say it took us a half hour to find it, in the rain, of course.

Saturday morning it poured until we got up to head back.  We made it in time to have the best hamburgers probably ever and catch Macklemore and Ryan Lewis' thirty minute set which was way to short. They played "same love" and I cried because I'm five.

Then we made a serious commitment to our place for Rammstein who played at 11.  We stood for at least seven hours in front of the green stage.  During our wait we watched BoySetsFire, Gogol Bordello, The Hives, and Billy Talent who apparently is immensely popular in Germany since we were the only two people who weren't signing along.  All these bands were fantastic and now we have some cds to buy.  The Hives were especially fun and also hilarious:

"I'm gonna teach you all a lesson in manners.  When a song ends you yell NO because its over and you're sad but clap because it was fucking good."-lead singer

At 11 pm sharp we got the show if a life time.  This was the second time I have seen Rammstein and the best.  More fire and a new set of songs and no censorship!! Absolutely amazing is all I can say and I catch myself with a smile on my face constantly.
Our legs hated us and we got the worst sunburned but we would do it again in a second. No doubt.

Also I'd like to add that I am addicted to Red Bull since that's all they had to drink along with Beck's.

Oh and we lost the car again but we were only off by two rows! Also in the rain!

Sunday we skipped to recover and there wasn't really anyone we wanted to see. We had definitely received our money's worth in shows.

Monday we had to say tschüss to the Benz and it makes me sad to think about it.  Great, great, great car :(

Our trip is almost over and that makes me even more sad...please, don't end!!
